How did Favors by Dorinda begin & how long have you been in business?
I started my business in 1998 when I decided I wanted to be a part of my children's life. After 20 years in the field of pharmacy, I decided I'd had enough. I was an art major in school and so my love of creating brought me to where I am today. My decision allowed me to be a stay at home mom as well as keeping myself in the business world. We just celebrated our 12th year in business in April.
What is your most popular item?
Right now our most popular item is the candy cake. Each cake is made to order and can be customized for your occasion. They make great centerpieces! Of course, our candy bar wrappers are always a constant; especially when they are used not only as the favor but as the placard, too. You supply the list for your table arrangements and we do the rest.
Can customers design their own wrapper?
Customers can chose from pre-made designs, can design their own or have us do it for them. The most common wrappers are custom made by us. We just added blinged out wrappers!! Some of our designs will now be offered with crystals. We've gotten great feedback on these already and we're extremely excited about them.
I see that you also have customized wrappers for businesses and baby showers, what other kind of events do you make products for?
We can make a wrapper for any event in your life. While weddings and babies are the most popular, we also do birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, religious events, etc. If you can have a party for it, we can make a candy bar wrapper!
I love the wedding time capsule, do your customers ever come back and share stories with you?
Our time capsules are fairly new! We've been offering them for about a year now. The idea is to fill the capsule during your first year of marriage, seal it and reopen it on your 5th, 10th or 25th Anniversary. We've had many of our customers tell us how excited they are and that they can't wait to open them. Hopefully in a few years, we'll be able to share those stories with you.
O.k. now for the yummy stuff, what kind of chocolates do you use in your personalized candy wrappers?
We use Hershey's milk &/or dark chocolate for our candy bars. Recently we added Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. We also use Dove Chocolate in certain gift items.
Anything new on the horizon for Favors By Dorinda?
We've recently collaborated with Victoria Joanne of HCC Custom Wedding Garters to offer themed weddings. We provide the candy bar wedding favors and HCC provides the wedding garter, pillow, dress & tux tag. I'm very excited to be working with Victoria, a very talented woman!!
